Difference Between Evaporative Air Cooler and Electric Air Conditioner

Air conditioner is known to all, but what is water air cooler?

Evaporative air cooler use a fan to draw in outdoor fresh air, where it passes over water-moistened pads, it cools air through the evaporation of water, then swamp coolers release this cool moisturized air into the space, the temperature of dry air can be dropped significantly through the phase transition of liquid water to water vapor (evaporation), this immediately cools the air.

Water air cooler vs air conditioner:

Property Water Evaporative Air Cooler Traditional Air Conditioner
Equipment Cost Low.
The cost is only 1/5 of the traditional air condition for the place of same space and same conditions
High
Energy Consumption Low.
The temperature of dry air can be dropped significantly through the phase transition of liquid water to water vapor (evaporation), It consumes only 1/10 of the electricity which required by the traditional electric air conditioners
High

Using vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle

Air Quality Good
The water air cooler intakes the outdoor fresh air while working, providing air ventilation and circulation in the meantime of cooling
Bad
The electric air conditioner has to work with doors and windows closed, with poor ventilation and very little air circulation.
Cooling Effect Cooling slow, but dramatically.

Normally it takes about 1 or 2 hours to cool down a place, the cooling temperature can be 4℃-15℃ lower than the temperature before cooling taking effect.

Cooling fast and dramatically.

Normally it takes about 10 to 20 minutes to cool down the same space, and the temperature can be 10℃ to 15℃ lower than outdoor temperature.

Airflow The airflow of each evaporative air cooler can be 18000m³/h to 40000m³/h, the air blow distance can reach 30meters. Limited air flow
Humidity Increase humidity up to 90% very few humidity
Environmental Friendliness Using water for cooling, environmental friendly Using freon for cooling, not environmental-friendly, it is one of the factors which lead to global warming.
Noise About 50db to 60db, large industrial air cooler can be less than 70db About 50db
